Protect the Gatineau Park for future generations

The Canadian economy shows promising prospects for 2025.

Thank you for entrusting me with the honour of representing your voices in Parliament.

In the hustle and bustle of life, it is vital to take a moment to appreciate the strength of the people around us.

Summer has given me the opportunity to reflect on the last parliamentary session. I’ve come to believe that the supreme threat we face as a nation is forgetting who we are.

Today, we stand at the cusp of a new economy. The decisions we are making today will shape our economy tomorrow.

We have been through a lot together these last few years, and life is still difficult for many of us. But we are pulling through and are building an economy that works for all Canadians.

I’ve been blessed. When I think back upon difficult patches in my life, family and friends were always there. I would not be who I am today, or where I am, without their loving support.

Over the last twelve months, I have poured a lot of energy into the Green and Prosperous Outaouais initiative. Why? Because prosperity doesn’t just happen. It’s the fruit of collaboration.

Traveling down the grocery aisle has become painful. Everything in the cart has gone up, including bread and milk. It's hard for working families to tank up.

We have a narrow window to prepare Pontiac’s economy for the headwinds to come.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you Pontiac, for your trust. As we travelled to the four corners of our riding, it was a privilege to hear your stories and concerns. The challenges we face are great, but our communities are strong.

In early September, I was in Maniwaki with my team to meet our constituents. Thank you, as always, for your warm welcome.

As we approach Thanksgiving, we should reflect on and appreciate the hard work of our farmers.

I am proud of our work towards making dental care accessible to everyone, so Canadians do not have to choose between paying their bills and receiving dental care.

Last month, we had the pleasure of meeting the residents of the Plateau. We had some great discussions.

Spring had just arrived when I visited our local farmers preparing for a new season. These visits are essential to amplify their voices and issues, and to advocate effectively for their noble task of putting food on our tables.

Throughout the Black History Month in February, we had the opportunity to participate in various activities highlighting Black history.

On a beautiful winter day, my fantastic team of volunteers and I met with the citizens of the municipality of La Pêche, especially in the Wakefield and Masham areas!

Affordability, disinformation, and the tramway project were the main topics of discussion during my meetings with citizens.

My team and I took advantage of a beautiful month of August to visit our citizens of the Vallée-de-la-Gatineau.

On a Sunday in July, I set off on my electric bike on a series of door-to-door visits in Cantley to meet with residents of my riding. The subjects most frequently raised were the environment in all its forms, inflation, the cost of living and healthcare.

On a rainy afternoon in May, my team and I had the privilege to meet you at your doors in Shawville, Fort-Coulonge and Mansfield.

In an exclusive interview with the Ottawa Compass/iPolitics, Chatel talks climate and discusses how her background has set her up to explore how she could secure the ecological infrastructure in her riding.

Did you know that Gatineau Park has no legal status?Upon my election as Member of Parliament for Pontiac – Kitigan Zibi, I wanted to make Gatineau Park a real park! This natural treasure, with its exceptional biodiversity, is something we must safeguard for ourselves and for future generations.

Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC), in collaboration with the National Capital Commission (NCC), has announced its intention to transfer a portion of the land and building of the Asticou Centre (Gatineau, Quebec) to the Government of Quebec for the development of the future University Affiliated Hospital Center. The Member of Parliament for Pontiac reiterated her commitment to protecting Gatineau Park and promoting health.

Health is primarily a provincial responsibility, which I greatly respect. Exceptionally, I bring the voice of the citizens of my riding to the cabinet of Quebec's Minister of Health, Christian Dubé.

Why do we pay taxes? This answer to this fundamental question is profoundly expressed, in my view, by the inscription on the IRS headquarters in Washington, DC: “Taxes are the price we pay for a civilized society.” In this article, I apply this principle to the current international context, exploring how global taxes on multinational enterprises may be the price to pay for a sustainable world.

Protecting the health and safety of Canadians and preserving the environment is a non-negotiable condition of any nuclear waste disposal project at the Chalk River Laboratories site, located in the town of Deep River. , in Ontario (“Chalk River”).

Canadians living in rural and remote communities have long experienced difficulty obtaining equitable access to health care services.
